Iloilo City showcases best practices in EU biz summit
Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog shared Iloilo City's Integrity Best Practices for Investment Opportunities in Marriott Hotel Manila Nov. 22 as one of the few chosen Local Government Units (LGUs) to present its economic potentials.
He highlighted five priority areas including services; human resources and Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs); tourism; utilities such as power, water and transportation; and Information and Communication Technology-Business Process Outsourcing (BPO).
The mayor promoted the city's successful initiatives on education; jobs generation; skills training; business streamlining; tax incentives; good governance and anti-corruption; utilities; peace and order; infrastructure; environment; healthy lifestyle and recreation.
The City Government is a signatory to an Integrity Pledge through the Partnership for Integrity and Jobs Creation (I4J) of the European Union (EU), an additional initiative to its sustained fight against corruption.
Local Economic and Investment Promotion Officer Atty. Mary Joan Montaño said the project will result to certification of the city's good governance, thus its promotions to businesses which will translate to jobs generation.
The LGU Business Summit was co-funded by EU and Konrad Adenauer Stiftung and organized by European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines in partnership with I4J and co-presented by Marriott Manila.
