10 tribes showcase in Dinagyang Opening Salvo Jan. 6
A sneak preview of Dinagyang Ati Dance Competition will snake through downtown streets starting at 3pm Jan. 6 as the 10 tribes showcase their talents through streetdance, gimmicks and sample performances in five stages.
Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog invited everyone to witness and support the participants in highlighting the best tourism event in the country which will climax on Jan. 20-22.
Tribes to perform first through carousel-type are Paghidaet of La Paz National High School and Obreros of Bo. Obrero NHS at Stage 1 Freedom Grandstand; Pan-ay of Fort San Pedro NHS and Amihan of Mandurriao NHS at Stage 2 Capitol; Buntatalanit of Tiu Cho Teg Ana Ros Foundation Integrated School and Salognon of Jaro NHS at Stage 3 Mabini-Delgado; Dagatnon of Ramon Avanceña NHS and Panayanon of Iloilo City National High School at Stage 4 Quezon-Ledesma; and Ilonganon of Jalandoni Memorial NHS and Abiador of Asian College of Aeronautics at Stage 5 Ma. Clara.
The mayor also suspended classes in all levels in both public and private in the afternoon.
The Traffic Management and Traffic Regulations Office (TMTRO) will start road closures and rerouting schemes at 1pm.
The dry-run parade will cover Mapa St. to Freedom Grandstand/ JM Basa - F. Caram Avenue turn left to General Luna St., turn left to Mabini St., turn left to Delgado St., turn right Quezon St., turn left to Ledesma St., turn right to Iznart St. and turn left Rizal Street and turn left back to Mapa St.
This year's celebration with the tagline "See, Feel, Love" anchors on the theme "Communion of Communities with Señor Santo Niño."
