KOICA offers scholarships for city gov't employees



The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) through the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) -6 is offering Iloilo City government employees scholarship programs for 2017.
These include Master's Degree Programs in Public Management and Public Sector Reform, Public Administration for Local Government, and International Studies: Capacity Development of Gender Equality Leadership, and Community Development Leadership on August 2017 to December 2018; and Urban Development Policy and Global ICT Policy on August 2017 to January 2019.
Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said the scholarship programs being offered by KOICA will enable city officials and employees to expand their knowledge in public service and good governance.
KOICA will arrange and pay for the eligible participants' travel to Korea as well as cover the tuition fee, accommodation living allowance, overseas travel insurance, among others during the duration of scholarship.
Interested parties must submit original copies of endorsements from DILG regional director and local chief executive, original and certified copies from the head of Human Resource Department, curriculum vitae, certification employment, filled-up application forms of KOICA and University application in an e-copy.
Applicants must meet the following requirements in order to be qualified:
* citizen of target country;
* officially nominated by government;
* government officials or an employees in public sector;
* must not have pending administrative or criminal case;
* must hold a permanent appointment;
* must have rendered not less than three years of service in government;
* have sufficient command of both spoken and written English in order to take classes conducted entirely in English and to be able to write academic reports and theses in English;
* university or college graduate or have an equivalent educational background;
* in good health, both physically and mentally (pregnancy is a disqualifying condition);
* have not participated in KOICA's scholarship program or any of Korean government's scholarship program before; and
* preferably be under 40 years old.
Former participant who had once withdrawn from the program due to failure to attain certain grades, a violation of rules of the training institute, or false entry is not allowed to re-apply. (Iloilo City PIO)
